Ibrahimovic Has a Bad Record in Executing Penalties
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Zlatan Ibrahimovic may puff out his chest by considering himself as the most influential player for AC Milan. However, regarding the penalty kick, Ibra needs to be more restrained.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the first executioner of AC Milan’s penalty kick. Stefano Pioli’s decision to appoint Ibra is understandable given Ibra’s experience and ability in placing the ball.
Unfortunately, in recent occasions, Ibrahimovic has not done his job well. The Swedish attacker actually wasted a golden opportunity to score a goal from the spot.
Most recently, Ibra failed when he was appointed as the penalty taker in the AC Milan match against Sparta Prague in the Europa League group stage. The striker’s shot hit the crossbar.
According to Opta Paolo, Ibra missed three times in the last five penalty kicks. No other player in Europe’s top five leagues has had a worse score since August 2020.
When examined further, Ibra’s two other failures were against Inter Milan (Samir Handanovic) and Cagliari (Alessio Cragno). Meanwhile, the two successful penalties were in the match against AS Roma (Antonio Mirante) and Bologna (Lukasz Skorupski).
However, the impact given by Ibra to Milan’s attacking power was indeed large. In this season alone, Ibra has packed seven goals plus one assist in various competitions.
