In Contract with Ajax, Van der Sar Cancels in Joining MU
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Edwin van der Sar has signed a new long-term contract as Ajax’s chief executive. This ended the speculation on him being Manchester United’s sporting director.
United were looking for someone to fill the post of sporting director and Van der Sar was said to be taking the post before this.
The former United goalkeeper revealed last month that he was interested in the position at Manchester United, but he expressed respect for his contract with Ajax until 2023.
“I am very pleased with the extension of my contract at this beautiful club,” said Van der Sar.
“I started being a goalkeeper in 1991, three years ago I became Ajax’s CEO. We faced difficult moments, but the good times finally came back.”
Van der Sar spent six years at Old Trafford from 2005 to 2011 where he presented four Premier League titles and one Champions League title.
