Jamie Vardy Enters the 100 Goals record in the Premier League

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Jamie Vardy confirmed his status as one of the best late bloomers in the world of fotoball. Playing in the Leicester City vs Crystal Palace match on Saturday (07/04/2020), the 33-year-old striker carved a special record.

Vardy’s 100th goal in the Premier League event was scored against Crystal Palace on Saturday (4/7). He did it through a simple process in the 77th minute using a mature pass from Harvey Barnes.

In that match Vardy scored twice, which makes his Premier League goal collection to be 101 goals. The more perfect as Leicester won the match with a score of 3-0.

Vardy became the first Leicester player to score at least 100 goals since Arthur Lochead did it in the 1933-1934 season. He now also has a great chance of winning the golden boot after leading the Premier League’s top scorer list this season with a collection of 21 goals.

Vardy needs 206 matches to score 100 goals in the Premier League. He was still outdone by another string of top-flight bombers who needed fewer matches to do so.

Alan Shearer holds this record with 124 matches to score 100 goals. Vardy did not even make it into the top ten list as he was unable to compete with names like Hary Kane, Sergio Aguero, Thierry Henry, to Robin Van Persie.

But if you look further, Vardy has special values compared to the names above. He scored 100 goals with Leicester City which incidentally is not a top club status.

In addition, Vardy had also just started his work in the Premier League at the age of 27 years old. He was the only sharp bomber who was older than him in this regard.

Vardy has spent more of his career defending lower division clubs. He was recruited by Leicester in the summer of 2012 while still competing in the Championship division.
