Jose Mourinho Doesn’t Want to Shop for Players because of Tanganga?

DBasia.news –  Jose Mourinho admitted that he was impressed with Japhet Tanganga’s game. After seeing the debut game of Tanganga, Jose signaled not to shop for players in the January 2020 transfer market

 Japhet Tanganga stole the attention when he debuted as right-back position in the big match of Premier League between Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool, Saturday (11/1/2020).

 The 20-year-old defender recorded 24 successful passes from 30 attempts and won two tackles.

 He even dispelled the ball twice in the goal line in the first half. Unfortunately, the debut of this young British national player was tarnished asTottenham narrowly lost 0-1.

According to Mourinho, Tanganga’s neat appearance was a blessing for Tottenham who are now being hit by an injury storm.

 “Can we call Tanganga a new player? He has never played in the Premier League before. But he has proven he can play for us,” Mourinho said as quoted by Goal.

“I think Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah already know the quality of Tanganga now,” Mourinho added.

Mourinho’s decision to play Tanganga in a party as big as against a candidate for the English League champions’ team was indeed quite surprising.

As Tottenham has two other central defenders who are ready to play and have experience namely Jan Vertonghen and Juan Foyth.

The fall of Tanganga might be a sign of Mourinho who is dissatisfied with the quality of Tottenham’s back line at the moment. Of the 13 games Morinho has played,

Tottenham has only received a clean sheet once and have conceded 20 goals. On the other hand, Tottenham is left by five players due to injury.

 They are goalkeepers Hugo Lloris, Ben Davies, Moussa Sissoko, Tanguy Dembele, and Harry Kane. Responding to this, Mourinho appeared to be satirizing Tottenham officials.

 “Tanganga is not a striker. He is also not a midfielder. However, at least we have one additional player in the squad,” Mourinho said.

Mourinho explained a bit about Tottenham’s plans in the winter transfer window. According to Mourinho, Tottenham cannot imitate Liverpool or Chelsea who are able to directly purchase the coveted players needed.

 At Tottenham, all transfer matters must be careful and not in a hurry. The owner of Tottenham Hotspur, Daniel Levy, is indeed famous for being “stingy” on spending money to purchase players.

 This was reflected last season when Tottenham was still coached by Mauricio Pochettino. In the 2017-2018 season, Tottenham became the only of 20 English League participants who did not shop at two transfer exchanges.
