Jose Mourinho Praises the Reaction of his players when Against Arsenal

DBasia.news – Tottenham Hotspur coach, Jose Mourinho praised the reaction of his players to criticism posted after the defeat in the previous match. The result, they reaped a narrow 2-1 victory in the North London derby against Arsenal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Sunday (7/12/2020).

This match was actually very crucial. In addition to risking prestige among fellow North London clubs, Tottenham and Arsenal also need a victory to improve their ranking in the standings.

Arsenal were able to excel first through Alexandre Lacazette’s spectacular goal in the 16th minute. Three minutes later, Tottenham was able to reply through Son Heung-min utilizing the Gunners’ defense line blunders.

Toby Alderweireld finally determined Totenham’s victory with his header nine minutes from the end of normal time. This score lasted until the end of the game.

After the match, Mourinho was unenthusiastic about welcoming this victory. For him, Tottenham’s target is not just to be the best in North London.

Throughout his managerial career, Mourinho does have a good record when meeting Arsenal. He has played 20 games with three different clubs with a total of ten wins, eight draws and only two defeats.

“I don’t want to see him only as a fan who is happy to finish above Arsenal. “I have to be more ambitious than that,” Mourinho said.

The rivalry between Arsenal and Tottenham is indeed quite unique. For many years Arsenal were superior to their city clubs.

So much so, Tottenham fans even hoped that their idol team could finish above Arsenal each season. Something that normally happens in the last three seasons in a row.

Mourinho wants to change that view. He wants Tottenham fans to see further that the club’s goal is to win the title.

“I know I look selfish by saying I arrive when the competition starts. “Even with all the problems we have, I think we can now be fourth or fifth in the standings,” he added.

Mourinho is now aiming for Europa League tickets as Tottenham’s main target for the remainder of the season. They are only three points behind Wolverhampton Wanderers in sixth place which is the final limit to compete in the second caste competition between European clubs.
