Jurgen Klopp is Inspired by the New Zealand Rugby National Team to motivate the Liverpool squad

DBasia.news – Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp is known to often provide motivation for his players. This he did as he onbtained inspiration from the New Zealand Rugby national team.

With his gegenpressing philosophy, Klopp needs players who want to perform all-out on the field. Therefore he must be able to provide the right motivation.

Klopp is frequently expressive when giving instructions on the sidelines or celebrating goals. That is part of how he motivates the players.

Well, Klopp’s mind has been open about this since watching a documentary titled All Blacks which tells of the struggles of the New Zealand Rugby national team for success. All Blacks is the team’s nickname as their jerseys are black.

“In 2001 or 2002, in the summer I saw a documentary (about All Blacks) and I was really impressed with these big bodied fellows and how they talked about (their jerseys). I think that moment happened in my first preseason (as Mainz boss), “Klopp said on Liverpool’s official website.

Klopp did begin his managerial career with Mainz 05. He has been in charge of the German club since February replacing Eckhard Krautzun who was dismissed.

The New Zealand’s Rugby national team itself is indeed one of the best in the world. Australia’s neighboring country holds the most World Cup trophies with South Africa with three titles.

“They are all (New Zealand Rugby national team players) semi-professional because they also work as butchers, builders. But these impressive people talk about their past and the importance of playing in this team,” added Klopp.

“In Mainz, two minutes before the bus arrived at the stadium to compete, we used to listen to Haka (a unique dance performed by the All Blacks before competing), as when the door opens, the sound would blast loudly to arouse enthusiasm.”

Klopp then called Mainz as All Reds because their main jersey was red. He told his players to perform better until they were able to promote to the Bundesliga in 2004.

Klopp would always apply this type of motivation during his time with Dortmund and Liverpool. The point is he wants the players to realize the importance of the jersey they wear.

“As long as you wear this jersey, spending less than 100 percent ability will not be allowed. It’s not in my dictionary and that’s what I do to stay alive,” he concluded.
