Jurgen Klopp Mocks the Transfer of Manchester United
By db-admin
DBasia.news – This weekend there will be a big match between two classic rivals in England, Liverpool and Manchester United on week nine of the Premier League. Ahead of the match, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp satirized United’s transfer.
The satire cannot be separated from the fact that United have spent more than £1 billion in 2020, starting since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013. This year United again spent £126 million to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho.
Even the current United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is spoiled with the purchase of players who totaled £441 million during his two-and-a-half season coaching Man United.
Management often spends money to recruit players, but United have not returned to their habitat after winning the Premier League title in 2013. Seeing this fact, Klopp could not bear to comment.
“United are still United, they won’t stop investing until things work out at some point,” Klopp said as quoted by the Mirror.
His satire continued his previous comments about United’s purchasing power, which Klopp saw as not much different from Chelsea, PSG and Manchester City. Klopp wonders United could do it without breaking FFP rules.
“We can’t spend money we don’t have. Can not. Maybe others can, but we can’t,” said Klopp some time ago.
“We all know the situation of Chelsea, City and PSG, but what United did, I don’t know exactly how they did it.
“We have our own way of doing it. We’re allowed to spend the money we earn, and that’s what we’ve always done.”
“This year we spent before we got any money with (Ibrahima) Konate because after last season it was clear we couldn’t risk anything in his position at all and that was it.”
“That’s our situation and it’s not about me being surprised. I’ve never been surprised by the financial strength of Chelsea or City or United. I’ve been here long enough to know that they always find a solution for doing these things.”
Just for comparison, Liverpool only recruited Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig for 40 million euros. However, the Reds have never lost in the league and are one of the favorites to win.
Klopp’s comments heated up ahead of the North West Derby match between Liverpool and Manchester United in week nine of the Premier League at Old Trafford, Sunday (24/10).
