Jurgen Klopp Reveals Liverpool Want to Win the Community Shield

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Liverpool will certainly give a serious performance when they meet Arsenal in the Community Shield match at Wembley Stadium, Saturday (29/8). Victory is the goal carried by Sadio Mane and his friends in this match.

The Community Shield is an event that brings together the Premier League and FA Cup champions. This match is the opening gate of the new season of English football competition.

The seriousness of winning this event was emphasized directly by Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp. The German man does not consider the Community Shield a trial match or a friendly match.

“Actually we don’t have friendly matches, but trials, training games and the like. But the Community Shield isn’t all that because it’s a competition,” Klopp said on Liverpool’s official website.

“It’s a decent match because after all it was against Arsenal. So we will try whatever we can and try to win it.”

Although less prestigious, Community Shield is an official event where the winner will get a trophy. The victory in this match will certainly add to the confidence of a team in navigating the new season.

Moreover, Liverpool have not won this event for a long time. The last time The Reds lifted the Community Shield trophy was in 2006.

Last year, Liverpool also featured in the Community Shield. But they failed to win the title after being defeated by Manchester City on penalties.

To avoid that failure from happening again, Klopp looks like he will immediately reduce his full strength from the start of the match. However, he was reluctant to promise maximum performance due to the lack of preparation time.

“I would be very surprised if the match will be the best game we have played this season. But we must be ready to fight for results because opponents have a similar situation,” he concluded.
