DBasia.news – Camp Nou have witnessed directly Barcelona new player, Kevin-Prince Boateng. He was signed from Sassuolo as the loan player with the contract until the end of the season with 8 million euro permanent option.
The 31-year-old player was signed by Barcelona to be the option and rival for Luis Suarez. Boateng would fill the space left by Munir El Haddadi to Sevilla. In Barcelona, Boateng would wear the No. 19 jersey with “Prince” name.
Barcelona won’t need a long time to finish his transfer. Tonight, he was announced to Camp Nou public. Boateng realized that he wasn’t the starter from the previous club. However, he would do anything for Barca.
“This is a test and I know I haven’t arrived as a starter, but I want to play well and stay for many years, that’s my goal. At almost 32 years old, the role of a No.9 is perfect for me,” Boateng said cited by Marca.
Boateng believes Barcelona won’t regret signing him. He thinks he has more than just technical capability. Boateng has the passionate characteristic everytime he plays just like Arturo Vidal.
“It’s important to have a player like me in the team because I have other attributes,” the former Tottenham Hotspur, Borussia Dortmund, Portsmouth, AC Milan, and Las Palmas player added.
“It’s an incredible feeling to be here. I wanted to come to Barcelona, as soon as I heard of their interest I spoke to my agent. It’s a dream and a great honor, I’m very happy,” he added.
Boateng is no longer young. But, in terms of contribution, Boateng is a multifunction player that could be used by Ernesto Valverde in many positions like a striker or attacking midfielder.
With Sassuolo this season, Boateng just scored four goals and one assist. But that’s only when he was in Sassuolo. With Barcelona who have Lionel Messi, Ivan Rakitic, Suarez, and Sergio Busquets, he could perform better.
