Liverpool Threatens to not Play in the 2019 League Cup Quarter Final
By db-admin
DBasia.news – The club nicknamed the Reds will undergo a solid week in December. Liverpool’s escape to the quarter-finals of the 2019 League Cup, has left a problem for Jurgen Klopp’s club.
The plan is for the quarter-finals of the League Cup to take place on December 16. The problem is in the early weeks of December, Liverpool must play in five different competitions. This means that Liverpool will likely play the Carabao Cup quarter-final match on Christmas Eve.
“If the football authorities are unable to find the right schedule. I mean not at 3 pm on Christmas, we will not play, “Klopp said as quoted by Goal, Friday (11/01/2019).
“FIFA tells us that the Club World Cup will take place in Qatar and we will come play,” Klopp added.
Klopp should be furious in this condition. The reason is if you look at the schedule of Liverpool matches in December 2019, Mohamed Salah and mates must undergo five different matches in a span of 20 days.
“We don’t want to be victims of this problem. If they really can’t find the right date, then we won’t play in the next round, “Klopp stated.
The threat from Klopp can indeed be realized. Manchester United did so
in the 1999/2000 season. The tight schedule was the reason for United to
withdraw from the FA Cup competition that season.
