Liverpool Won’t Give Chance To Atletico Madrid

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk refused to give up despite Liverpool losing 1-0 on aggregate to Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League round of 2019-2020, at Anfield Stadium on Thursday (12/3). Van Dijk is optimistic the Reds can rise and not give Atletico the slightest chance.

Liverpool are on the edge after losing 1-0 in the first leg against Atletico Madrid. Victory does not even guarantee Mohamed Salah and his friends will advance to the quarter-finals.

However, Van Dijk was not worried. The Dutch international defender is confident because Liverpool have overcome a more difficult situation before. At that time, the Reds lost 3-0 in the first leg against Barcelona before winning 4-0 at Anfield.

“We did not give Barcelona the slightest chance. We will enter the match just like any other match,” Van Dijk said as reported by Sky Sports.

“Hopefully we can win the game and play beautiful football. However, first and foremost we must show a high desire and hard work,” said Van Dijk.

“We had to fight hard from the beginning of the match. A lot of things happen and they might be a better team, but everyone wants to show a desire to go forward with the quality of play in the next round.”

Virgil van Dijk considered Atletico Madrid’s counter-attack to be very dangerous. Moreover, Los Rojiblancos also has a strong defense.

“The game against Atletico Madrid will be difficult because they are a fantastic team. They are one of the best teams by playing like that,” Van Dijk said.

“They are aggressive and have fantastic players who can make it difficult through counter attacks.”

If they win, Liverpool will join RB Leipzig and Atalanta who have confirmed themselves in the Champions League one day before. In addition, Borussia Dortmund will be playing against Paris Saint-Germain.
