Lorenzo Pellegrini Rejects Francesco Totti’s predicate title

DBasia.news –  Lorenzo Pellegrini is slowly becoming AS Roma’s key player. His name is now even starting to be juxtaposed with the club legend, Francesco Totti.

Many of Rome’s supporters consider Pellegrini to be the incarnation of Totti. Both of them do have a lot in common.

Pellegrini and Totti are both products of the Rome academy and play the role of playmaker. Both also originated from the capital.

Pellegrini’s appearance has become more prominent this season. The 23-year-old player contributed three goals and eleven assists for Gialorossi in all competitions.

Being compated to the legend has certainly flattered Pellegrini. But he felt unworthy of the compliment.

“I will never be Totti, he is a legend, champion and role model. Obviously I am thrilled to hear this (comparison) being said, but Francesco is Francesco and there will never be anyone who can become like him,” Pellegrini told Corriere dello Sport.

“Totti is Totti, and I am Lorenzo. I’m just trying to be the best Lorenzo I can do for Rome.”

Pellegrini does not deserve to be compared with Totti. The contribution given is certainly nothing when compared to the legend.

Totti has strengthened Roma for 25 years. In addition to donating 250 goals, he also presented several titles such as one scudetto, two Coppa Italia and two Italian Super Cups.
