Manchester City Are Looking for Ways to Bring Lionel Messi without Breaking the FFP Rules
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester City are reportedly serious about bringing in Barcelona captain Lionel Messi. Currently, The Citizen are looking for ways to bring in the Argentine player without violating Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
Man City already know that any deal on Messi will be complicated but want to be prepared as soon as there is a chance for La Pulga.
For this reason, The Citizens’ management are calculating the costs if Barca agree to sell the player at a reasonable price.
So far, Barca’s official stance has been that Messi is not for sale and whoever wants to sign his player has to refer to the 700 million euro sell clause.
However, ESPN last week revealed a number of members of Barca’s board of directors would be open to selling him if the Argentine continued to ask for his release and the proceeds from Messi’s sale would be invested in rebuilding the team.
Messi is out of contract in 2021 and has already met new coach Ronald Koeman to express doubts about staying at Barcelona.
At 33 years old Messi knows he doesn’t have much time left to appear at the top level of the competition and wants to ensure his last seasons are spent in a team that has won top glory in the Champions League.
Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel said Messi would be warmly welcomed at his club. However, Tuchel believes Messi will end his career at Barcelona.
But other sources have told ESPN that Man City have always followed Messi’s situation closely and are serious about studying the player’s price.
