Manchester City targets Lionel Messi for Next Season
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester City Chief Operating Officer, Omar Berrada said the English club has the financial strength to sign Lionel Messi next summer.
Previously City were also the frontrunners for signing Messi after the 33-year-old Argentine player gave Barcelona official notification in August of his desire to terminate his contract.
However, Messi finally decided to remain in Spain, as he did not want to face a legal battle with the club he joined since childhood.
“He is the best player in the world. He is the best player of his generation. I think any club in the world would like to explore the possibility of him joining their team,” Omar Berrada told the Manchester Evening News.
“He may be an exception to the potential investment that we will make. But our plans are already in place with the current squad and that is being considered with the current opportunities we have.” “For each position we have to be prepared as there is a lot that can happen, but at the same time, we have the financial strength and the system capabilities to make those investments when needed,” Berrada added.
