Manchester City Will Not Recruit New Defenders in January 2020
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester City and Liverpool are still two of the Premier League title fighters in the 2019-20 season. At present, Man City is in a position to chase Liverpool.
Unfortunately, the strength of the team is now slightly reduced due to the injury of one of their tough defender, Aymeric Laporte. As is known, the 25-year-old player indeed suffered a serious injury while helping his team defeat Brighton in the fourth week of competition, Saturday (31/8).
An in-depth examination by the club’s medical team also predicted that Laporte would be absent for a long time, at least five to six months in the future. This is certainly a major blow to City, especially the player is an irreplaceable figure at the heart of the defense.
The injury of the Frenchman has made the public speculate if The Citizens will soon bring players in the January transfer window, namely Inter defender, Milan Skriniar. But now Pep Guardiola immediately dismissed the news.
“My advice, don’t write too many player names (associated with Manchester City) for the January transfer window, you (the journalists) are wrong if you keep doing it,” Guardiola told a press conference as reported by Goal.
“Yes, I’ve heard some news that says if City is interested in bringing in a few names. I don’t think that will happen. European clubs don’t need to worry because we have absolutely no interest in recruiting new central defenders. The club will survive with the players in the squad,” he added.
