Marc Bartra Can’t Forget Humiliated by Gareth Bale

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  When it comes to Marc Bartra, people will remember the moment when he was humiliated by Gareth Bale in the 2014 Copa del Rey final match.

Barcelona faced Real Madrid in the match that took place at the Mestalla. Bartra who was then 23 years old appeared since the first minute as a central defender accompanied Javier Mascherano.

Bartra almost became a Barcelona hero in this match. He scored the equalizer after Angel Di Maria had put Madrid in the lead.

But the disaster for Bartra came in the 85th minute. A Bale individual action made him like an amateur player who ended Barcelona breakdown.

Bale, who received a pass from Fabio Coentrao on the left side of the field, pushed the ball forward. The Welsh winger immediately ran to catch the ball.

Bartra who escorted him swiftly closed the Bale room until the opponent’s body was pushed out of the field. In this situation, he should be able to secure the ball.

But Bale showed above-average running speed. He was able to overtake Bartra and get the ball.

The former Tottenham Hotspur player then surged into the Barcelona defense without being chased by Bartra. Bale was able to conquer Jose Pinto under the bar and score the winner of Madrid.

“For me the incident was difficult to accept. I am a young player who came from below and played against Madrid for the first time,” Bartra said as quoted by Marca.

“I broke into (Caser) goalkeeper Casillas, and then changed from triumphant to a poop.”

The moment indirectly ruined his career at Barcelona. After that, he rarely got the chance to appear before being released to Borussia Dortmund in 2016.

“I have no problem talking about this even though I have never done it. One thing I remember (after the incident), Casillas came and comforted me. He was a good person,” he concluded.
