Merseyside Derby Won by Liverpool

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Curtis Jones’s 71st-minute goal was enough for Liverpool to win the Merseyside Derby against Everton.

These results extend Everton’s poor report card against Liverpool at Anfield. Everton has not won at Anfield in 21 years.

As expected, Jurgen Klopp featured nine players who were not shown when they captured Sheffield United in the Premier League. In this fight, Klopp only defended Joe Gomez and James Milner and gave the chance to debut for the latest Liverpool player Takumi Minamino.

In the Everton camp, Carlo Ancelotti chose to display his best troops and only made two changes from the previous match against Manchester City. Ancelotti, who was able to defeat Liverpool when handling Napoli this time, played Schneiderlin and Theo Walcott to replace Fabian Delph and Tom Davies.

Everton first created chances when the match ran for five minutes. But the opportunity failed to bear fruit because Adrian was still able to break the ball volley from Dominic Calvert-Lewin who received Walcott’s pass.

Lapse of six minutes later, Everton came close to breaking into Liverpool’s goal. Again, Everton’s chance was thwarted by Adrian who was able to stem Mason Holgate’s header after receiving a free kick from Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Despite showing the majority of young players, Liverpool can have more control of the ball, 57 percent compared to 43 percent to 20 minutes of the game running. In the 25th minute, the Reds recorded the first threat. But kicking the ball Neco Williams still strayed to the right side of the Everton goalkeeper who was accompanied by Jordan Pickford.

One minute later it was Everton’s turn to threaten the Everton goal and again Adrian emerged as a Liverpool hero. The Spanish keeper broke Richarlison’s shot from close range.

Liverpool created chances on 34 minutes. But Minamino failed to reach the cross ball that was released by Divock Origi. Opportunities again obtained Liverpool ten minutes later. However, Origi kicking the ball can still be ignored by Pickford.

The goalless draw lasts until the referee ends the first half.

When the second half ran for three minutes, Everton again got the chance. Once again Everton failed to make a goal after Morgan Schneiderlin’s shot bounced over the bar.

Up to one hour of running action, the game runs in balance. Liverpool young fans can keep up with Everton who appears in full force. Until the 65th minute, Liverpool managed to make Everton fail to open fire.

Liverpool’s young squad managed to break the deadlock in the 71st minute through the brilliant action of Curtis Jones. The 18-year-old player was kicked off after receiving bait Origi. Beautifully curved ball towards the right corner of Pickford’s goal. Liverpool is 1-0 up thanks to a goal on Curtis Jones’ debut with the senior team.

Thanks to these goals, Jones listed himself as Liverpool’s second-youngest player to score on the Merseyside Derby after Robbie Fowler in 1994. Jones scored at 18 years 340 days, while Fowler 18 years 338 days.

In 83 minutes, Liverpool tried to widen the distance. But the efforts of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after receiving Origi’s bait can still be tamed by Pickford.

Until the fight was over Liverpool managed to maintain a 1-0 advantage.
