DBasia.news –  Mesut Oezil, Arsenal midfielder, certainly will not strengthen the Gunners in the Europa League against Olympiakos, Friday (2/21) AM. The former German national team player is absent for accompanying his wife who will give birth in the near future.

Oezil’s wife, Amine Gulse, is indeed in her last trimester and will give birth to their first child in the near future. Oezil has received permission from Mikel Arteta to attend his wife’s labor.

This season, Oezil has indeed had difficult to show his best performance. He was even frozen from the Gunners’ first squad by Unai Emery at the start of the 2019-20 season.

Emery’s dismissal was a breath of fresh air for Oezil. As he began to get the confidence to play from Mikel Arteta. Despite having regular playing hours, Oezil still struggles to show his best form on the pitch.

This was evidenced by Oezil’s contribution of one goal and one assist from 16 appearances in the Premier League this season. The lack of contributions given by Oezil has made his future in North London in a fog.

Mesut Oezil is not the only Arsenal midfielder who will miss the party against Olympiakos. The Uruguayan player, Lucas Torreira will also almost be certainly absent as he is unwell. However, Torreira still has the possibility to be taken to Greece if he can recover soon.

Instead of Torreira, Arteta decided to bring in Matteo Guendouzi. In fact, the French player had lost from Arsenal’s squad in the party against Newcastle United last weekend.
