Mesut Ozil will strengthen his favorite team after leaving Arsenal
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Ozil would most likely not be with his team for long. He is reported to have chosen Fenerbahce as his next destination after the Gunners.
The departure of the German player left sadness for his team-mate, Shkodran Mustafi. Even Mustafi gave an emotional tribute to escorting his compatriot in Germany to Fenerbahce.
“Guys, you are the most selfless player on and off the pitch I have ever shared a locker room with,” Mustafi wrote on Twitter.
“You will always be remembered as the king of assists.”
Mustafi’s mention of the king of assists was not without reason. Reporting from Transfermarkt, the former Real Madrid midfielder has collected 216 assists from 600 matches throughout his professional career.
In addition, Ozil has also helped Arsenal to three FA Cup titles, and was the runner-up to the League Cup and Europa League. In Arsene Wenger’s era, Ozil was also named the king of assists after providing 20 assists in his third season with Arsenal.
Ozil chose to leave presumably because of the lack of playing opportunities provided by his manager, Mikel Arteta, who also dropped him from Arsenal’s squad in the Premier League and Europa League. It was noted that the 32 year old player last played for Arsenal against West Ham United in March last year.
