Mikel Arteta Hopes David Luiz Extends Contract with Arsenal

DBasia.news – Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta hopes David Luiz will extend his contract with The Gunners. Arteta considers that Luiz as a player with experience.

David Luiz joined Arsenal from Chelsea in August 2019 and British media reported that he was signed for two years, but his agent told Sky Sports as reported by Reuters on Wednesday, the 33-year-old player only signed a one-year contract.

“I am pleased with David’s presence in this team. I want to keep him here with us. He has been a role model since I joined,” said Arteta.

“I am pleased with what he showed on the field. I like the influence he has on players and clubs in general. I will be happy to keep him here,” he added.

Arteta also said he really needed a change in the team, but he was not sure about his choice in the transfer market because of the financial impact of the corona virus outbreak.

“My plan is not to consider the corona virus and all its side effects,” added Arteta.

“We know what we need to improve the ability of the team, that’s for sure. Whether we will be able to do it the way we want is a different story.”

Arsenal are currently ranked ninth in the Premiere League standings with 40 points collection from 28 matches.
