DBasia.news – Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho uttered his plan to change Victor Lindelof position as the left-back. He took the decision considering the current squad composition.

Manchester United failed to bring some target players, especially in the defensive position. Harry Maguire, Jerome Boateng, and Diego Godin are the names related to The Red Devils in the 2018 summer transfer market.

Consequently, Man United have too many players in the center-back. Meanwhile, United have no good squad depth in the winger defensive sector.

“We have five central defenders, all of them have different qualities and we have to read the situation match by match, but of course Victor is the youngest one so has more space to develop and improve,” said Mourinho reported by Metro.

“Technically Victor is good. I am ‘punishing’ him a little bit because I play him on the left side. He is better on the right side but so are the others and my option is to put him on the left because technically he is the best so he is the one that can compensate the fact it’s not his real position,” he explained.

Manchester United got Victor Lindelof from Benfica with a £31,5M price tag in the 2017-2018 season. But, his performance didn’t go well due to the injury.

“I expect him to feel more comfortable in the Premier League. If you remember, he had good matches last season in the Champions League, in Lisbon, in Moscow. I believe in Victor,” the former FC Porto coach emphasized.

Victor Lindelof performed during the match between Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion in the second match of 2018-2019 Premier League at Falmer Stadium, Sunday (19/8). Previously in the match against Leicester City, the 24-year-old player played for 90 minutes.
