Not Only Liverpool, Manchester United Also Failed to Bring Timo Werner
By db-admin
DBasia.news – RB Leipzig striker, Timo Werner was reportedly one step away from joining Chelsea. Not only Liverpool, Manchester United also failed to win the race in getting Timo Werner.
What Timo Werner did with RB Leipzig was enough reason for Chelsea to recruit him. Timo Werner continues to be the German club’s goal scorer.
At first, Liverpool was said to be the club that most likely to get Timo Werner. Moreover, Jurgen Klopp intervened by contacting that striker directly. Klopp tried to convince Werner that Liverpool is the best choice.
The problem is, Liverpool did not make an official offer to RB Leipzig. In fact, negotiation was easy enough as Werner had a release clause of £52 million. If they were willing to pour out that amount, The Reds could not be rejected by RB Leipzig.
Apparently, Liverpool do not have enough money. The Reds were having red financial balance after the corona virus pandemic cuts most of their revenue.
In the end, the situation was used as an opportunity for Chelsea to make turn. The Blues immediately offered a salary of 200 thousand GBP per week to Timo Werner. After the player gave the green light, now the Blues started talking to RB Leipzig.
Not only Liverpool got heartbroken seeing Timo Werner joined Chelsea. Because based on the news of The Athletic, Manchester United also has had taken steps to be able to bring the 24-year-old striker.
Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, reportedly had a meeting with Timo Werner in Berlin, Germany, in February 2020. Solskjaer tried to influence Werner to play at Man United next season.
The Red Devils will reportedly submit a formal offer if they find a buyer for Paul Pogba. Man United will use the funds from the sale of Pogba to bring Werner.
