Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Believes Manchester United Is One of the Elite European Teams
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Manchester United are “not a million miles away” from the best teams in Europe.
Solskjaer’s confidence comes from seeing the development of his team throughout this season. Currently United are in second place in the Premier League and have advanced to the semifinals of the Europa League.
Remarkably, throughout this season United have managed to beat three of the four clubs who became Champions League semifinalists. That’s why Solskjaer felt that it didn’t take long for MU to be aligned with European elite clubs.
“The reality is, we are in the Europa League and they are in the Champions League. But if you sit back and watch the game, you’ll know how well we did against them. We are not too far away,” said Solskjaer as quoted by Goal.
United advanced to the semifinals of the Europa League after defeating Granada’s resistance 4-0 on aggregate in the quarter-finals. After the match, Solskjaer commented that his team will meet Roma. In the first leg, MU will host Roma at Old Trafford first.
“I rarely see them (Roma). What I know, they played two good matches against Ajax. They defended well, as usually Italian teams do,” he told BT Sport.
Solskjaer is sure his team will get the most out of it. Because United’s record was sufficient when meeting Italian representatives.
“We are looking forward to it. We are in the semifinals and hope to qualify for the finals,” said the 47-year-old trainer.
“We have a good record against Italian clubs before. If we can win a trophy here, it will be great,” he said.
