Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s satisfaction for having Odion Ighalo at Manchester United

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Odion Ighalo has received praise from the coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The praise came after the Nigerian player scored for Manchester United in a match against Norwich City in the FA Cup, Saturday (6/27/2020).

Manchester United managed to reap victory with a score of 2-1. They had to fight extra hard, as Norwich provided extraordinary resistance until the match must run into extra time round.

Actually, Manchester United were ahead first thanks to the action of Odion Ighalo in the 51st minute. But the Norwich player, Todd Cantwell, managed to equalize in the 75th minute.

Both teams failed to score until the game entered the final minutes of the second half of extra time. Until then Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire, broke into Norwich’s goal in the 118th minute.

Maguire is Manchester United’s savior in this match. But Solskjaer chose to praise Ighalo, who until now is still on loan from Shanghai Shenhua.

Solskjaer is grateful to have the 31-year-old in his squad. As with the presence of Ighalo, he can make rotations in his squad without worrying about achieving unwanted results.

“It’s nice to have the option to rotate. Anthony Martial came in and played brilliantly, but Odion gave me the opportunity to rotate players,” Solskjaer told BBC Sport.

“He is a proven goalscorer and plays his part in both goals. He is also a great figure in the locker room,” he continued.

In fact, Manchester United almost lost themselves. Because Ighalo’s loan contract is only valid until June 30. Fortunately, MU was able to reach an agreement with Shenhua to extend its loan period.

“It’s very important [to be able to keep him at the club], it’s important for me and we work hard to be able to do it,” concluded Solskjaer.

Since being brought in last January, Ighalo has pocketed a total of five goals from 11 appearances in all competitions. Some of them were created in non-league performances such as the Europa League and FA Cup.
