DBasia.news – Olivier Giroud was the hero of France in the match against the Netherlands at the Group 1 League A UEFA Nations League at Stade de France, Paris, Sunday (9/9).

France were dominant by Kylian Mbappe’s goal at 14′. Ryan Babel balanced the situation to 1-1 at 67′.

Giroud became the hero by scoring the decisive goal at 74′. The victory strengthened Les Bleus’ position as the leader of Group 1 League A temporary standing with 4 points.

After the match, Giroud felt content with France’s first victory after the 2018 World Cup. The Chelsea player believes the Gallic Rooster team will score a positive result in the upcoming match.

“To be so supported by a crowd like that… it makes us want to fight right until the end. It was not easy. It’s always difficult to come back as world champions, but we wanted to win our first after the World Cup at home,” Giroud said reported by Soccerway.

“We have claimed this good point in Germany [Thursday’s 0-0 draw in Munich]. We showed determination all the time until the end and that’s good. We were rewarded,” he added.

The movement of Benjamin Mendy started Giroud’s goal. Giroud admitted that he knew where Mendy will kick the ball.

“I know Benjamin Mendy’s ability to cross to the near post and I went for it – it worked out well for me and the team. I’m very happy for everyone.”

Meanwhile, the additional one goal made Giroud became the fourth top-scorer in France national team of all time. The Chelsea player is one goal higher to Zinedine Zidane with 31 goals.
