Persib Approved Febri and Dedi to Support the National Team

DBasia.news – Two Persib Bandung players: Febri Hariyadi and Dedi Kusnandar were called-up in the friendly matches between Indonesia against Myanmar (10/10) and Hong Kong (16/10).

The two friendly matches are part of the preparation ahead of the 2018 AFF Cup. After two friendly matches, 50 players will be registered to the AFF before shortlisted to be 23 before the ASEAN competition.

Persib Bandung coach, Mario Gomez changed his mind and granted the permission for Febri and Dedi. The 61-year-old coach acted differently than the previous one.

Initially, he planned to not releasing Febri and Dedi to the national team considering the lack of players after the sanction from Disciplinary Committee for the match against Madura United.

Statistically, Persib Bandung couldn’t send Bojan Malisic due to the ban from four matches. Jonathan Bauman also will miss two matches and Ezechiel N’Douassel five matches. Also, Patrich Wanggai is banned from three matches. Interestingly, in the match against Mitra Kukar, Ardi Idrus, and Ghozali Muharam Siregar got the yellow card accumulation.

Mario said the reason to give the permission for both players is to respect the passion to defend the national team and for the country. Hence, the initial idea to keep Febri and Idea is canceled.

“I think I should let them go to the national team because it would be better. I respect the national team a lot. I also respect Indonesia. They could go anywhere,” Mario said at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung (4/10).

Mario Gomez will call Indra Mustaffa, who is currently joining the U19 Indonesia national team.

The Argentinian coach will call him to support Persib Bandung, especially in the match against Madura United (9/10) and Persipura Jayapura (15/10) at Mandala Jayapura Stadium.

“Indra will go home and Wildan from U19 Persib. Both will join in the match in Papua,” he said.

Mario Gomez hopes for the maximum result despite the weak squad. At least they could present three points to maintain Persib’s position as the leader of 2018 Liga 1 temporary standing.

“We should be calm down, the sanction is not our decision. It’s not our problem to handle that, it’s the problem for the management. If the team fight about that, it won’t give any impact. It belongs to the management, not my business and my job is to gain the victory and preserve the leading position,” he concluded.
