Peter Moore: The English League Title Is A Barometer of Success

DBasia.news – Liverpool won the sixth Champions League trophy last season. But success in the competition is not complete without a Premier League title. Liverpool won their sixth Champions League title in the 2018/2019 season. It ended 14 years of fasting in the highest competition among European clubs.
Liverpool currently occupies the top position in the Premier League standings. They are eight points ahead of the defending champions Manchester City. The hope to end the league title drought for 30 years soared.
“I think that’s what the fans want. We are very close to winning last season with 97 points and we will win it,” said Peter Moore, Liverpool CEO, as reported by AFP.
“But the club continues and I think the Premier League title, for many fans, must co-exist with the Champions League trophy as a barometer of the club’s success.”
Meanwhile, City which is its rival has won four Premier League and Champions titles and two FA Cup titles since 2011. But Moore said Liverpool have their way.
“What Liverpool must do is bring in a world-class manager and squad, that’s what we have now. As well as maintaining the club’s financial condition, we’ve done that,” Moore said.
Besides, Moore revealed that the victory in the Champions League had a big impact on the Reds by raising their level to one of the richest clubs in Europe.
Nine years ago, Fenway Sports Group, which later changed its name to New England Sports Ventures, spent £ 300 million to buy Liverpool. As a first obligation, they must pay off debts of 237 million pounds.
But Liverpool’s success in the Champions League has lifted the club level to the top.
“When we look at the health of the club, our revenues have doubled in the last five years and have been invested again in the club,” Moore explained.
