Positive for covid-19, Atletico Madrid is without Angel Correa and Sime Vrsaljko to Lisbon
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Atletico Madrid are confirmed to lose Angel Correa and Sime Vrsaljko when they travel to Lisbon for a Champions League match due to being tested positive for the corona virus.
Knowing that two of their players were infected with the corona virus, Diego Simeone’s squad immediately carried out tests to find out whether there were additional positive cases.
“Players and main squad staff took the test again yesterday, the results were all negative, apart from the two positive findings last Saturday (8/8),” wrote a statement on Atletico’s official website.
Atletico’s first team players were scheduled to return to training on Monday afternoon without Correa, who has been instructed to undergo self-quarantine at home as he is positive but without symptoms.
Likewise for Vrsaljko, who has not been involved in training with his colleagues for a while as he is recovering from his injury.
However, Vrsaljko’s case was said to have recovered by the Spanish health authorities as it was found that he had COVID-19 antibodies in him a few months ago.
Both Correa and Vrsaljko will remain under the supervision of the team doctor according to the guidelines.
Thus, in addition to the 21 first team squad members of the Atletico group who left for Lisbon, there were also a number of academy players, namely Alex Dos Santos, Manu Sanchez, Riquelme and Toni Moya.
Atletico are scheduled to face German representatives, RB Leipzig, in the quarter-finals at the Jose Alvalade Stadium, Thursday (13/8) local time (Friday WIB).
