Premiere League to resume, Tottenham Hotspur still utilizes their Stadium to hold Covid-19 Tests

DBasia.news – Tottenham Hotspur insists on continuing to allow the UK National Health Service (NHS) to continue using its stadium to conduct Covid-19 tests even though the Premiere League will resume.

North Middlesex University Hospital has been using the stadium for COVID-19 rapid tests since early April and also Women’s Outpatient Services.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is one of a number of Premiere League stadiums used in the fight against COVID-19.

Tests are carried out in underground parking for hospital staff as well as important workers from other health and social care organizations, including care and the wider public sector.

“We are pleased that, with the return of English Premier League football, we can ensure that vital NHS work can continue to be carried out in our stadium while fighting COVID-19,” Tottenham Hotspur chairman, Deniel Levy said as quoted on Sky Sports, Wednesday (6/10).

“We are pleased with the response we have received from hospital staff and patients who have used our stadium facilities in the past few months and they have enjoyed being in our home during this challenging time.”

The area used by the NHS is the guest locker room, medical emergency room, official room, doping control room and medical room, all of which will now be cleaned, sterilized and disinfected before being returned to their original function.

To maintain health and safety and to limit the number of people on site, no non-football activities will be carried out at the stadium on the day of the home match.

Another club that also offered their stadiums for use by the NHS is Manchester City, which has opened the Etihad Stadium for training more than 350 nursing staff.

Manchester United offered Old Trafford for mobile testing units, while Burnley’s Turf Moor stadium has also been used as a temporary testing facility.

Brighton has transformed Amex Stadium into a large rapid testing center while the Watford Vicarage Road stadium has been converted into accommodation that offers free food, beds and laundry services for NHS staff working in the nearest healthcare service.
