Quique Setien Witnesses the Defeat of Real Madrid
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester City gave a lesson to Real Madrid by defeating them. Barcelona coach, Quique Setien, watched the match to prepare for El Clasico.
Madrid was forced to recognize City’s 1-2 superiority at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg match of the Champions League top 16, Thursday (02/27/2020). The two teams played with balance without a goal in the first half, then Isco broke the deadlock with his goal to give Madrid a 1-0 lead in the 60th minute.
Man City evened the score after Gabriel Jesus rattled Thibaut Courtois’s goal in the 78th minute. Before finally Kevin de Bruyne made sure City won after converting a penalty in the last 10 minutes of the match.
Setien was one of the spectators who packed the stadium last night. Ernesto Valverde’s successor was accompanied by his assistant, Eder Sarabia, to spy on the Madrid game, as reported by Marca.
Facing Madrid, Setien is not supported by a good record. In eight meetings when he coached Las Palmas and Real Betis, Setien was only able to bring home two wins and suffer four losses.
However, Setien’s last meeting ended beautifully after Betis defeated Madrid 2-0 at the Bernabeu on May 19 last year.
Meanwhile, the Madrid vs Barcelona duel will take place at the Santiago Bernabeu, Monday (2/3/2020). At El Clasico earlier this season, both teams played out a goalless draw at Camp Nou.
