Receiving an Offer to Train Barcelona, Koeman Keeps the Promise of training the Dutch National Team

DBasia.news – Ronald Koeman’s dream to coach Barcelona must be delayed. He hopes to one day get the job. According to him the job in Barcelona requires the coach to have a lot of experience.

Koeman has the opportunity to handle Barcelona this summer after the 2020 European Cup mat. He has already established communication with El Barca management and received the blessing of the Dutch football federation.

“In my contract, there is a clause that allows me to leave the national team after the European Cup. But now is not the time to think about that,” Koeman told Radio Catalunya.

Koeman has actually been offered to deal with Barcelona since last January. He was prepared as a substitute for Ernesto Valverde.

But Koeman was unable to accept it as he felt he still had a duty with the Dutch national team. Therefore he asked the Blaugrana to wait until summer.

The request appeared to be approved by Barcelona. This can be seen from the appointment of Quique Setien as Valverde’s replacement.

Setien was given a six-month contract. The 61-year-old man was only a temporary coach until Koeman arrived.

Unfortunately the plan fell apart after the European Cup Implementation was postponed the next year. It was not separated from the corona virus pandemic that still continues today.

Koeman also admitted to have resigned to this situation. He is unsure that Barcelona would wait any longer.

“Everyone knows that training Barcelona is my dream. Hopefully I can have the opportunity to do so in the future,” he added.

Barcelona may have moved closer to another name appointed to handle Lionel Messi and his colleagues next season. Another option is to extend Setien’s contract.
