DBasia.news – Romelu Lukaku contributed one goal when Inter Milan defeated Getafe in the 2019-2020 UEFA Champions League top 16 match at the Veltins Arena, Thursday (6/8) AM. The goal has a special meaning for the Belgian striker.

Scoring goals in the Europa League has become a routine for Lukaku. He is recorded to have always scored goals in eight consecutive matches in the second class tournament between European clubs.

Lukaku has only appeared in the Europa League three times this season. Apart from Getafe’s game, the other two games took place in the top 32 when Inter faced Ludogorets.

Lukaku scored one goal each in home and away matches against Ludogorets. In total he has scored three goals in the Europa League this season and is still likely to win the top scorer title.

Meanwhile, five other matches occurred in the 2014-2015 season when Lukaku was still defending Everton. That season was the last time the 27-year-old bomber appeared in the Europa League.

At that time Lukaku scored against Wolfsburg, Young Boys and Dynamo Kyiv. The last two clubs faced in the knockout phase on a home and away basis.

Lukaku matched Alan Shearer’s score in the 2004-2005 season who also scored in eight consecutive matches when the tournament was still called the UEFA Cup. In total, Lukaku has packed eight goals.

Not only that, Lukaku has also scored 30 goals for Inter throughout the 2019-2020 season. He is now level with three world-class bombers, Ronaldo, Diego Milito, and Samuel Eto’o as attackers who were able to score at least 30 goals in one season.
