Romelu Lukaku will make his debut against Arsenal

DBasia.news – Newly returned Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku will almost certainly make his debut in the London derby against Arsenal on Sunday (22/8). This news was conveyed by the Blues manager Thomas Tuchel.

Lukaku was not included in the team during Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Crystal Palace in the first week of the Premier League, Saturday (14/8). Lukaku was absent due to undergoing COVID-19 protocols after traveling from Italy.

The 28-year-old player returned to Chelsea for a transfer value of 97.5 million pounds or around Rp. 1.93 trillion. He returned to the Blues after leaving seven years ago.

Regarding when Lukaku would appear, Tuchel hopes to be able to display the goal machine in the London derby against Arsenal.

“We expect Romelu to finish quarantine in time to be able to join team training on Tuesday. We will try to get him ready to play against Arsenal and hopefully he will be on the pitch,” Tuchel said.

Apart from Lukaku, Tuchel is also hoping to bring back his midfielder N’Golo Kante, who missed Chelsea’s first game of the season as he is still recovering.

“N’Golo felt some discomfort in his ankle on Friday. He felt it in the warm-up ahead of the Super Cup game against Villarreal. He played with a little bit of pain and he’s feeling it again,” stated Tuchel.

“I think N’Golo will be back in midweek ready to face Arsenal.”
