DBasia.news – Romelu Lukaku is currently known as one of the players with the highest tag. However, during his childhood, Lukaku’s days were lived with flaws.

Romelu Lukaku made Inter Milan disburse 74 million euros to sign him in the 2019 summer transfer market. Previously, Manchester United spent 84.7 million euros to get Lukaku from Everton in 2017.

Now, Lukaku’s life is full of wealth. The 28-year-old attacker reportedly earned Rp2.58 billion per week. In addition, he also appeared sharp with 34 goals in his debut season at Inter.

However, what Lukaku has achieved now is not a smooth path. Lukaku achieved success step by step.

“When we were one and a half years old, we had a house in Liege, Belgium. Since then, I never left football. That was the beginning of my love for football,” explained Lukaku to Gazetta dello Sport.

“My father always invites him to attend training sessions. He left Zaire to play football in Belgium. He arrived around 1990 and played in the top competitions for 10 years,” he said.

During his childhood, Lukaku spent many days with financial difficulties. The Lukaku family does not own their own home.

“When my father ended his career, he was homeless because he never saved money. When he finished his career, I quickly realized that our family was facing difficult financial problems.”

“Then, I decided to become a footballer. I want to improve the financial condition of the family,” explained the striker.

Lukaku’s toughest moment came when he was young. He saw the immense sacrifice of his mother.

“One day before going to school, I saw my mother make milk, but took it from the leftover milk from the previous day. She added water and heated it. Then, she gave it to her children.”

“It was breakfast that I ate with my brother. Seeing these sacrifices, I always get great strength. Nothing is easy for me,” said the former Chelsea.

When he got his first contract as a professional player, Lukaku did not forget his parents. Lukaku gave the house.

“A few years earlier in my career, I gave all the money that was generated to mum and dad because they needed it. For me, playing football was enough,” Lukaku recalls.

“I only need Playstation 3 or Xbox to play with my brother. However, the first thing I did after I signed the contract was buy my parents a house.”

“They have raised and sent me to school. The hard work they have done is for me. So, I feel the right thing to repay their services,” said Lukaku.

Romelu Lukaku’s journey proves that hard work can produce sweet results. Lukaku’s love for his parents helped pave the way to success. The Belgium international is reaching out for his current career in stages.
