Rumored to leave, Ivan Rakitic Confirmed Staying with Barcelona
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Barcelona midfielder, Ivan Rakitic finally opened statement related to rumors that said he would leave the Camp Nou. Feeling bored with these rumors, Rakitic insisted he would stay with the Blaugrana until the contract expired.
Rakitic was recruited by Barcelona from Sevilla for only 20 million euros in the summer of 2014. To date, the midfielder has made nearly 300 appearances that have helped Los Cules win four LaLiga and Copa del Rey titles, as well as once the Champions League, including the treble in his first season.
However, since last season the role of Rakitic began to diminish and is now not even the main choice player by Quique Setien. Ahead of his contract expiring next summer, Barcelona intends to sell the 2018 World Cup finalists but the player won’t leave.
The 32-year-old midfielder expressed his desire to remain at Camp Nou until his contract is completed.
“I’m used to rumors. I have been here six years now. So I’ve been doing this kind of thing for six years. I have to try to understand it, given that soccer is not just a sport. There is little more than that. We know that, we have to try to understand it and you laugh sometimes,” Rakitic told Sky Deutschland.
“The main thing is I feel good and I get a good response from the manager and the club.”
“I still have a contract. When I sign a contract, I always intend to fulfill it, and if it cannot happen for any reason, then we will sit together and talk about it, but for now, I am very happy here and I am thinking about other things,” concluded the Croatian player.
