Samuel Umtiti Absent on Barcelona vs Sevilla

By db-admin

DBasia.news – FC Barcelona will not be strengthened by their mainstay defender, Samuel Umtiti, when playing against Sevilla in the continued La Liga.

Quique Setién’s squad continue to lead La Liga standings this week, after a 2-0 win over Leganes. Now, they are five points away from their arch-rival, Real Madrid, who will host Valencia on Friday (6/19) this week.

As revealed by the US, although Barca will eventually be defended by Jordi Alba, who is behind a card accumulation suspension in the match against Leganes, the Catalan giant will not play Samuel Umtiti who must undergo sanctions at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan this weekend.

At the moment, Blaugrana and Sevilla in third rank are 13 points adrift. However, Julen Lopetegui’s team has resumed their fight for the rest of the season very well, after the competition was stopped since last March due to the pandemic.

Before meeting Barcelona, Sevilla won the derby against Real Betis, 2-0, then drew 1-1 when facing Levante this week.

With Fernando recovering, Los Nervionenses can go down in full force with the star players when they host Barca. Like the goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik; Jesus Navas, Kounde, Diego Carlos, Sergio Reguilón; Fernando, Jordán, Ever Banega; Lucas Ocampos, Luuk De Jong and former Barca player, Munir El-Haddadi. In addition, Nemanja Gudelj can also be included in the starting XI of Lopetegui’s squad for Banega or Óliver.

Meanwhile, Blaugrana who return to be strengthened by Jordi Alba but without Umtiti who must undergo sanctions, will also be strengthened by Marc-Andre ter Stegen; Nelson Semedo, Gerard Piqué, Clement Lenglet, Jordi Alba; Sergio Busquets, Frenkie De Jong, Arturo Vidal; Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Antoine Griezmann.

However, Griezmann’s position remains unclear, and Martin Braithwaite might be able to enter Setien’s starting XI squad, once again.

Added by Sport, Umtiti was previously injured in Barcelona’s initial training session, but then played in the match against Leganes. Unfortunately, he was hit by a yellow card, which caused the 26-year-old player could not play at Sevilla’s home.

When faced with Leganes, Umtiti started from the bench to replace Pique. Unfortunately, the referee rewarded him with a yellow card shortly after he entered the field.

In the upcoming match against Sevilla, Umtiti’s position in the Barca squad will be replaced by young player Ronald Araujo, while Lenglet will again partner up with Pique. The former Spain national team defender himself suffered a foot injury when hosting Leganes, but the possibility of the wound only needs to be sewn up and won’t prevent him from playing against Sevilla.
