Sarri: I Can’t Give Confidence to Morata

Alvaro Morata
DBasia.news – Alvaro Morata failed to score the goal. In fact, in the match between Chelsea against PAOK Thessaloniki FC at Europa League, Thursday, he was trusted by Maurizio Sarri to play for 80 minutes. He wasted many opportunities, especially in the first round.
The only goal of The Blues in the match scored by the midfielder, Willian. No wonder, the Spanish player’s confidence is now at the lowest level.
Sarri tried to defend his squad. He thinks that he could see the positive aspect of Morata’s performance despite the goalless situation. As we know, the last time Morata scored the goal was in the match against Arsenal this season.
After that, his position as the main striker was replaced by Olivier Giroud. However, Sarri confirmed that Morata must score the goal in the near future to return his confidence. Alvaro has to gain confidence with one, two, three goals. I am not able to give him confidence. In this match, he has had three, four opportunities. He was unlucky. I hope for him that in the future I can try to help him, but the confidence can come only with goals,” said the former Napoli coach.

Statistically, Morata’s failure in scoring goal against PAOK wasn’t the only disappointment for Sarri. He also upset seeing his squad who created 22 opportunities throughout the match, but only scored one goal.
“I think that we played very well. It was difficult for people to play against us this evening. I think we were so good. I think we were in control of the match for 90 minutes. We had a lot of opportunities. I am very happy with the three points, but not the result. We didn’t kill the match,” Sarri explained.
