Shevchenko Called Corona Pandemic Very Terrible Like Chernobyl Disaster

DBasia.news –  AC Milan legend Andriy Shevchenko calls the corona pandemic similar to the Chernobyl disaster. He also referred to medical personnel as heroes.

According to WHO records, the World Health Organization, as of Sunday (29/03) there were 575,444 corona cases in the world with 26,654 people and 202 countries with Covid-19 cases. Some countries have imposed lockdown.

Corona virus has became a world pandemic. While the Chernobyl disaster occurred due to radiation leaks in 1986 and entered the worst nuclear accident category. Chernobyl is located near Pripyat, Ukraine.

Sheva – Shevchenko’s nickname – was only nine years old when the Chernobyl disaster happened and he already had to follow local government instructions. The Chernobyl disaster killed 4,000 of those who died from radiation or those who were exposed to radiation.

Sheva is now in London, England, to carry out isolation with his family. The former Chelsea midfielder in 2006-2009 talked about his experience of living in an area prone to Chernobyl radiation until now amid a corona virus pandemic.

“I (live) near London, I live outside the city. I have been locked (isolated) for almost 10 days,” Sheva told Sky Sport Italia.

“We are going through this difficult time with hope, hoping things will improve. The only solution is to respect the rules set by the government, stay home and give doctors the opportunity to do their work.

“All doctors in the world are doing a good job, nurses, volunteers … Thank you very much for everything you have done for us. You are truly a hero of our time.”

“I experienced a very similar situation when I was nine years old and the Chernobyl power plant was damaged. It was a difficult time. The only solution was to believe in the government’s decision. We don’t have to do stupid things, especially not leaving home,” explained Sheva

The 111 caps and 48 goals maker with the Ukraine national team also asked the public to be introspective doing physical distancing with others.

“We don’t know whether we have a virus or not, there are many people who can be infected and carry the virus, and then transmitting it to others without symptoms,” Sheva added.

“We must not only think about ourselves but also many others we can infect,” he explained.
