Simon McMenemy Praised Persela Lamongan’s Performance

DBasia.news – Bhayangkara FC coach Simon McMenemy explained the factors that made them fell at Surajaya Stadium. Bhayangkara FC collapsed in the hand of Persela Lamongan with two goals with no return.

Loris Arnaud became the star of Persela on the match Sunday (16/9) afternoon. The former Paris Saint-Germain striker gained two goals for Persela at 46′ and 63′. Loris Arnaud also ends his goal crisis since two months ago.

In his press conference after the match, Simon McMenemy praised Persela’s performance. They played well as a team. Persela pressed and overwhelmed Bhayangkara FC.

“We didn’t play well. Their goals are the result of our weak defense. It’s not our day,” said the Scottish coach.

Persela Lamongan essentially didn’t play with their best squad. They lost Saddil Ramdani, Wallace Costa Alves, Dendy Sulistyawan, and goalkeeper Dwi Kuswanto. Moreover, Fahmi Al Ayyubi just played in the last 10 minutes of the second round.

“They played very militantly. When they lost some players, they showed great spirit. We are really underperforming,” praised the former Mitra Kukar coach.

Conceded two goals, Simon McMenemy tried to chase by entering Herman Dzumafo at 66′. Unfortunately, the effort was failed. Bhayangkara FC failed to score the goal until the match ended.

“They played very discipline since the very beginning. Thus we are confused about where to enter. Persela’s defense is very great,” praised Bhayangkara FC midfielder Adam Alis.
