Sociedad Stop Barcelona’s Victory Trend
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Real Sociedad halted Barcelona’s four-game winning streak by drawing 2-2 in a Spanish League match.
The result did not change the position of the two teams in the standings. Barca still topped the standings with 35 points. Sociedad also remains in fourth place with 28 points.
Sociedad broke the deadlock when the game entered the 12th minute through a penalty as Sergio Busquets had pulled Diego Llorente’s shirt. Mikel Oyarzabal who became the executioner successfully deceived goalkeeper, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, from the spot.
Antoine Griezmann was Barca’s savior to equalize in the 38th minute. He ran after Luis Suarez’s bait to complete the opportunity while silencing the home fans.
Imanol Alguacil’s troops were caught off guard in the 49th minute. The pass from Busquets was received perfectly by Lionel Messi, as he handed the ball to Suarez to easily strike it into the open goal.
Griezmann and Gerard Pique had the opportunity to package a third goal for Barca, but it was Sociedad who rose. Aleksander Isak converted the rebounded ball into a goal after Ter Stegen brushed off Nacho Monreal’s cross into the attacker’s path.
