DBasia.news – The confusing issue about the history behind Sriwijaya FC, including the shareholder of PT Sriwijaya Optimis Mandiri (SOM) as the management of the South Sumatrans team, made one of the shareholders, Bakti Setiawan, also the initiator of SFC takeover, raised his voice.

To the reporters at Swarna Dwipa Hotel Palembang, Sunday (9/9), Bakti Setiawan told everything about the South Sumatran team. He told the takeover process from Persijatim Solo to Persijatim SFC happened on October 2005.

At that time, Bakti was asked by the governor Syahrial Oesman to enliven the Gelora Sriwijaya Jakabaring Stadium after the PON.

“I mentioned the innovation is by presenting the Main Division football club, by purchasing SFC,” he said.

Then it happened, they have the team degraded from the highest division. At that time, the provincial government was still giving the budget from Yayasan Sekolah Sepakbola. However, in 2008, the Minister of Internal Affairs banned the budget to the professional team. The team have to build a company.

“I remember clearly, I called Mr. Muddai when he was still in Mecca. We agreed to create PT SOM, handled Sriwijaya FC, with the shares from Mr. Muddai, Baryadi, the local government of South Sumatra from Yayasan Sekolah Sepakbola, and me,” he said.

After PT SOM established, the shareholders have to apply the regulation for not using the government budget. Since then, there was no more aid from the provincial government.

“Mr. Muddai Madang helped directly hence Sriwijaya FC still survive until now. Muddai was the hero of Sriwijaya FC because the government couldn’t give the budget,” he explained.

The chairman of PT SOM Muddai Madang added the establishment of PT SOM in 2008 was related to the regulation. The club should be handled by a legal company with the license from the public notary and Kemenkumham.

Muddai confirmed that he, Baryadi, Bakti Setiawan, and Yayasan Sekolah Sepakbola Sriwijaya are the shareholders of PT SOM.

The presence of Yayasan Sepakbola Sriwijaya is one way to respect the purchase of SFC. However, the foundation couldn’t give the budget to SFC due to the regulation.

Muddai emphasized SFC need to be more professional in the future. He will make PT SOM as a public company.

“To deny the accusation. I hope this will come true if the company is open, the owner couldn’t do any trouble. But in order to achieve that, the company must be handled professionally with good performance. Hence, no one becomes the dominant part,” Muddai insisted.
