Tammy Abraham Extends Contract after Scoring a Goal

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Tammy Abraham contract was extended by Chelsea until 2023 after scoring a goal. The goal was created when Chelsea defeated Crystal Palace with a score 3-2, Wednesday (8/7).

With the renewal, Abraham is now bound by a contract with Chelsea until 2023. The one-year extension is automatically done as he is related to the clauses in the previous contract.

In the contract there is a clause that says if Abraham can score 15 goals automatically the contract duration increases by one year.

The active clause makes Chelsea relieved that they do intend to bind the star for a long time. Also, if The Blues consider releasing the 22-year-old, they are now in a better position.

The clause was agreed in 2017 and is also based on the number of appearances actually fulfilled well in advance, but this can only be activated after the 15th goal in a season.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard said he was happy to see Abraham finally score again and break the fasting in ten matches. “The goal was very important for Tammy because he wanted a goal very much.”

“Tammy hasn’t recorded a goal in a long time. This will increase my confidence and also good for me. My options have increased.”

However, Abraham’s agent is still aiming for a new contract, of course, which has a higher number. Abraham currently gets paid around £50,000 per week, one of the lowest in the first team.

“Regarding Tammy’s contract, I don’t think we are at a critical level and I will let him talk to the club,” Lampard said. “I don’t think the contract case has disturbed his mind and it really shouldn’t be.”

Chelsea’s next line in the upcoming season will be deeper with the presence of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner. This could make Abraham’s future doubtful, especially Oliver Giroud who is now often a starter has also extended his contract.
