Ter Stegen: It’d Be An Honour to Be Barcelona’s Captain

By news-admin

DBasia.news – Barcelona goalkeeper, Marc-Andre ter Stegen admitted that he is ready if appointed as the captain. Ter Stegen wanted to fill the deputy position for Lionel Messi.

Andres Iniesta’s exit made Barcelona captain title given to Lionel Messi. It means the other captain’s position is vacant.

In fact, some of Barcelona’s captains are the strong candidate for the next captain.

Sergi Busquets and Gerard Pique are the strongest candidates to be the deputy captain of Barcelona. Moreover, both players are the alumni of La Masia academy.

By any chance, all of Barcelona’s captains graduated from La Masia. Since Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernandes, Andres Iniesta, also Lionel Messi studied in La Masia.

However, it doesn’t mean that non-La Masia alumni can’t be the captain of Barcelona. Let’s say Luis Enrique who came from Real Madrid.

The situation made Marc-Andre ter Stegen wanted to be the deputy captain of Barcelona. The Germany goalkeeper will be honored if chosen.

“It’s something that the squad will decide, but it’s an honor that my name is being talked about for the captaincy position,” Marc-Andre ter Stegen said.

“It would be an honor to be one of the captains, of course, it would. But for me, it’s not the most important thing. We need more than four captains,” he continued.
