DBasia.news – Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent paid tribute to young Ipswich Town defender Elkan Baggott. In recent days, Elkan Baggott has reportedly been targeted by two Premier League clubs, Leeds United and West Ham United.

Meanwhile, Ipswich Town is determined to maintain Elkan Baggott by giving him a professional contract. The 18-year-old defender drew attention after making his professional debut in an EFL Cup tie against Gilingham in October.

Elkan Baggott has also been part of the first team for other matches this season. Elkan Baggott was also part of the U-18 team which reached the fourth round of the FA Youth Club.

“First of all, Leeds should leave the young Ipswich Town players alone, let them be where they are,” said Darren Bent as quoted by Football Insider.

The former Tottenham Hotspur, who graduated from the Ipswich Town academy, admitted that he had often seen Elkan Baggott this season. “He was very, very good. I saw clearly and talked to people who said about him.”

“Leeds identified this young man, who could be better, so I can fully understand because he is a good player,” continued Darren Bent.

“He reads the game relatively well for a young boy. For a young boy he reads the game very well. He is relatively comfortable in possession.”
