DBasia.news – The opening match of the 2020-21 LaLiga season has finally been postponed. The first match of the 2020-2021 season, which was originally to be held on Friday (11/9) local time, was pushed back to Saturday (12/9).
Previously, the Spanish Football Federation (REFF) had scheduled Granada against Athletic Bilbao as the opening match, Friday (11/9) afternoon local time. But as reported by Marca, the match has been postponed for one day.
The postponement of this first fixture is the result of a dispute between REFF and the Spanish Competitions Committee (LaLiga) over fixtures.
REFF had asked LaLiga not to hold games on weekdays, in this case Friday and Monday. That way the Alaves match against Real Betis, which was originally held on Monday (14/9) evening local time, has been forwarded to Sunday Afternoon.
Meanwhile, the two Spanish giants, Barcelona and Real Madrid, have certainly missed the first week of this season. Barcelona and Madrid are two of the six LaLiga teams that must undergo their first match in the second week.
The six clubs were given longer time off as they had a longer season than the other clubs. The other four clubs who will also start the first match in the second league match, namely Atletico Madrid, Getafe, Sevilla and Elche.
