The Premiere League Team’s Decision to Reject Five-Player Substitution Rules Frustrated Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Premier League clubs choose not to continue the rule of substituting five players in a match.  This decision upset Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The rules for the number of substitutions were changed from three to five players when the 2019-20 competition was held again after being suspended for three months due to the corona virus pandemic.  However, Premier League clubs choose to return to the old rules, a maximum of three substitutions.

Solskjaer assessed that the decision to return to the three-player substitution rule contributed greatly to player injuries.  This is due to the tight schedule of matches this season.

“One hundred percent. I do not understand and do not believe in seeing the results of the voting which rejected it. Because we have to look after the players,” said Solskjaer when asked if he supported the five-player substitution rule quoted by Sky Sports.

“We have to think about the players. This season is the most demanding than ever,” added Solskjaer.

On the other hand, the manager admits that he understands the reasons for clubs choosing to reject the five-player replacement rule, but there are other things that are also important.

“Think about the professional players and their mental and physical health conditions. The only solution we have is to give them more rest,” Solskjaer explained.

“There have been many injured players in the Premier League. I prefer the five substitutions.”

Solskjaer will undergo his 100th match as United manager at home to Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday (1/11).
