DBasia.newsSriwijaya FC will play against the host Persipura Jayapura in the 21st week match of 2018 Liga 1 at Mandala Stadium, Jayapura, Tuesday (11/9). The return of Alberto Goncalves and Zulfiandi from the U23 national team after the 2018 Asian Games, added the strength of Laskar Wong Kito team.

However, the absence of young midfielder Syahrian Abimnayu was a big disadvantage for the team. The coach Subangkit needed the real service from the 19-year-old player.

In the defending midfielder position, Sriwijaya FC already have Zulfiandi and Yu Hyun Koo, but both players have the similar performance style. Sriwijaya FC need the player that could mediate between the defensive and attacking line.

He is Syahrian Abimanyu. However, the midfielder is currently still with the U19 naitonal team ahead of the U19 Asian Cup in October 14 until November 4. Moreover, Ichsan Kurniawan will also be absent due to knee surgery at Royal Progres Hospital.

To fill the empty positions, Sriwijaya FC want to take back Syahrian Abimanyu who is currently joining the training session and selection for the U19 national team.

Sriwijaya FC manager assistant Achmad Haris mentioned that they are communicating about the loaning plan of Abimanyu to PSSI.

“Perhaps they can and Abimanyu has discussed it with us. But, he will join Sriwijaya FC at Jayapura,” Haris mentioned.

Meanwhile, Sriwijaya FC striker Alberto Goncalves mentioned that Syahrian Abimanyu has a great quality and could enhance the team’s quality.

“Even though he is still young, he is calm and his passings spoiled the striker. If he keeps on progressing, not only for Sriwijaya FC but also the Indonesia national team will be helped,” he said.

For the left defender Samuel Simanjuntak who is currently joining the U19 national team, Sriwijaya FC won’t take him.

In that position, Sriwijaya FC already have three options. They are Zalnando, Jecky Arisandi, and Ahmad Faris.
