U19 China National Team Target in PSSI Tournament

DBasia.news – U19 China national team coach Cheng Yaodong underlined the goal in the PSSI tournament called 2018 U19 PSSI Anniversary Tournament. In the preparation ahead of the 2018 U19 Asian Cup, China will play against the host Indonesia and Thailand.

The U19 China national team will start the journey against Thailand at Pakansari Stadium Bogor on Friday (21/9). Previously both met in GSB Bangkok Cup when China won.

China won’t play on Sunday (23/9). In that day, the tournament will meet Indonesia and Thailand. China will play another match on Tuesday (25/9) against U19 Indonesia national team of Indra Sjafri.

“The team is training in Shanghai. This will be the last training before the U19 Asian Cup,” Cheng Yaodong said quoted by Sina.

He sees the tournament in Indonesia is important to adapt the squad considering the 2019 Asian Cup will be conducted in Indonesia on October 18-November 4.

“On September 19, we will fly to Indonesia and participate in the preparation tournament. We will enhance the skill, strategy, and also adapting to the weather and venue,” he added.

The tournament will also strengthen the squad. Previously in GSB Bangkok Cup tournaments, Cheng Yaodong and U19 China national team tried to understand the opponent’s preparation by playing against Jordan and United Arab Emirates, also established the strategy.

The U19 China national team will meet Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, and Malaysia in Group D qualification of 2018 U19 Asian Cup.

“The past one month is for mentality and adaptation. It’s important to conduct the psychological counselling. Also, the physical and strategy won’t change, including the detail to strengthen ball possession,” he added.
