Valverde Let Go of Cillessen from Barcelona
By news-admin
DBasia.news – Slowly but sure, Jasper Cillessen transfer rumor from FC Barcelona is fading in this summer transfer market. The Dutch 29-year-old goalkeeper was previously related to Chelsea and Liverpool, but until now, Cillessen remains in Barcelona.
Cillessen still becomes the second goalkeeper of Barcelona after Marc Andre ter Stegen. Ernesto Valverde also invited him to the squad during the preseason tour in the US. Cillessen played in 3 preseason friendly matches in Barca.
The exit rumor of former Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper rose because Cillessen seldom played since coming to Camp Nou in 2016. Cillessen has been playing as the second goalkeeper since he came to Barcelona, so he only performed in Copa del Rey of Champions League, who are no longer deciding the group phase.
However, Ernesto Valverde doesn’t want Cillessen to leave Barcelona. He is satisfied with two goalkeepers he has, though he understands how Cillessen felt to be the second option after Ter Stegen.
“I don’t know. My idea is to have two good goalkeepers, the two we have now, Marc and Jasper. It’s true that (Cillessen has) not played as much as Marc, but that’s what being a goalkeeper can be like,” Valverde said reported by Goal.
“He knows what I think. I don’t think he will be hard work if he stays – we are very happy with his professionalism and his attitude. We hope he stays with us and is happy here,” he expects.
Cillessen status is the second goalkeeper in Barcelona, but not in the international level. The Nijmegen goalkeeper who was born on April 22, 1989, was the first goalkeeper of Dutch national team who scored 40 caps. He has been playing for Der Oranje since 2013.
