Van der Vaart Confused by Solskjaer’s Decision to Donny van de Beek

DBasia.news – Former Dutch national team player, Rafael Van der Vart, admitted he was surprised by the decision of Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who still backed Donny van de Beek.

Donny van de Beek is Manchester United’s new recruit in the transfer market this summer. The 23-year-old player was purchased for 40 million pounds (equivalent to Rp. 748 billion) from Ajax Amsterdam.

Although he scored on his debut in the Premier League as a substitute against Crystal Palace in mid-September yesterday, until now van de Beek has not yet got a place in the main squad to be plotted as a starter.

Donnny van De Beek has indeed made five appearances in the league. However, it was all from the bench and the total minutes played were only 75 minutes.

Rafael Van der Vaart, a former Dutch national team player who played for Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid, has raised his voice about Donny van de Beek’s fate at Manchester United. He could not understand why manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer only used van de Beek’s services as a substitute.

“Look, he was good at Ajax last season and continued to be good at the Dutch national team. I can’t stop thinking he doesn’t have a place in the main squad for Manchester United,” he said as quoted by Metro.

“How long does van de Beek have to be patient? There are no qualified players just sitting on the bench,” he continued.

Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Scott McTominay and Fred have all started for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in the Premier League this season while van de Beek remains on the sidelines.

In fact, Rafael Van der Vaart even mocked Manchester United’s attacking line players.

“MU’s forwards can’t even kick marbles, but they are still installed as starters,” he said.

Donny van de Beek himself is a versatile midfielder. During his career, he was often positioned as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder and defensive midfielder.

“I’m not happy to see Donny van de Beek on the bench,” closed Van der Vaart.
